Update Donation Information
January 5, 2011
I apologize for becoming rather lax about reporting donations as we became exceptionally busy over the past year.
Along with our continuing gifts to WCMCA, Head Start and Salvation Army we recently also donated 160 items to a new program I set up with the Wheaton Hospital in Traverse County this past November. We also gave 288 knit items and 76 new toys to the Stevens County Toys for Tots progam in December.
Our total donations from our inception in October of 2008 is now 5,460 items!
Nimble Fingers on the Prairie also received the "Allies in Action" award on November 22, 2010 from West Central Minnesota Communnities Action, Inc at their annual banquet which was held in Glenwood, MN. We were very honored to receive this award!
Currently we are hoping to expand into Big Stone County next fall if all goes as well as it has been. We would then increase the number of counties we serve to ten.
For me personally the two most gratifying thank yous we have received this past season were the hand drawn pictures from Head Start children decked out in their new mittens, hats and scarves and the lovely thank you note from a little boy in Garfield, MN who thanked us not only for his new hat but for the blanket that is keeping his baby sister warm.
That is what our mission is all about; keeping children warm with one pair of hands, one skein of yarn, one heart and one stitch at a time. We thank all those who continue to let us know we have truly touched their hearts as well as they have touched ours.
Marybeth Potts, President
